Chang-dong LEE

Born in 1954, Chang-dong LEE started his career in theatre and writing. He has won South Korean literary awards and was once the country’s Minister of Culture. At the age of 39, he turned to filmmaking, starting as an assistant director and screenwriter, and at the age of 43 made his first feature, Green Fish, revolutionizing the genre of film noir in South Korea. His cinematic language is subtle and poetic. So far, Lee has directed six features and become a regular at major film festivals. Famous works include Oasis, Secret Sunshine and Burning
