Witness in Light and Shadow Freeze the Moments - Film Stills Exhibition of Akimoto Chan" curated by Cinematheque・Passion

The Cinematheque.Passion under the Cultural Affairs Bureau will hold the “Freeze the Moments— Film Stills Exhibition of Akimoto Chan” from September 1st to 31st December 2023, displaying selected stills of many Macao films, including “Sisterhood”, “Years of Macau”, "Madalena" and “Kissing the Ground You Walked On", etc. The exhibition is open to the public from 10am - 8pm daily (closed on Mondays), and admission is free.

The Cinematheque・Passion will hold exhibition themed "Rewind Macao" and "Looking Forward'', in the exhibition space on the 3rd floor. The theme is inspired by the two important buttons of video recorder, "Rewind" and "Fast Forward”. The former focusing on the local theme, and the latter drawing inspiration from avant-garde works from overseas, together symbolizing a foothold in Macao and a vision of the world. The "Rewind Macao" series focuses on local filmmakers in different positions, and the first wave of the exhibition is "Freeze the Moment - Film Stills Exhibition of Akimoto Chan".

This is the first time to exhibit the "Rewind Macao" series "Freeze the Moments - Film Stills Exhibition of Akimoto Chan". Through the works of stills to preserve the beauty of the film, the audience can experience the professional skills of the stills artist, evoke the initial impression of the film, and at the same time understand the creative energy of Macao films and development, focusing on reviewing local film practitioners in different positions.

Macao film stills artist Akimoto Chan first took on-site photos for the Macao film "Macao Stories 3", and then officially stepped into the stills profession after shooting stills for the film “Sisterhood". From independent short films with a small crew to filming with a crew of hundreds of people in other places, Akimoto has been engaged in film still photography for ten years. Akimoto witnesses the flow and changes of time in light and shadow, and is deeply connected with Macau film in a unique way.

Cinematheque・Passion is located at Travessa da Paixão, nº 9-13, Macau. The opening hours of the exhibition space are from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, closed on Mondays. For details, please visit the Cinematheque・Passion website, Facebook page and Instagram page.
