Panoramic Vision - Macao Contemporary Film Festival organized by Cinematheque・Passion

Cinematheque・Passion, under the Cultural Affairs Bureau, is organizing 2024 Macao Films Panorama” focusing on local cinema from now until June 26th, with special live performances and programs, allowing fans to revisit local works from new perspectives and get to know local filmmakers again.

Bridging the gap between fans and local creativity

The exhibition is divided into six sections, starting from “Live” and “Inspiration”, with the hope of widening the scope of thinking of local, and at the same time, hoping that filmmakers can step out of the cinema with inspiration and pick up a camera to continue their creation. It is also hoped that filmmakers will leave the theater inspired and pick up their cameras to continue creating. In the “Feature Film Happening” section, two award-winning local films, Kissing the Ground you Walked On and Sisterhood, were selected and the creative team and film critic Joyce Yang were invited to give a live commentary to provide a new perspective on local feature films; “Local Directors and Their Inspirational Classics was selected to provide a new perspective on local feature films. This section reviews and selects three of the best films from the "Support Programme for the Production of Feature Films" namely Passing Rain, Emperor Hotel and Madalena, and invites three directors, Chan Ka Keong, Ivo M. Ferreira and Emily Chan, to select a classic film that has inspired their works, demonstrating how films can influence each other. The “Made from Macao” section will screen the films produced by Macao filmmakers who have collaborated with teams from Hong Kong, Taiwan and overseas in recent years, so that the audience can have a glimpse of the fruits of the collaborative efforts made in the various places; The “Macao Short Film New Talent” returns to the strength of local newcomers, featuring the first or second short films directed by newcomers showcasing the creative potentials of local filmmakers.

Outstanding Works of Polish Film Academy

The “Film School Panorama” section invites Lodz Film School of Poland, one of the most renowned film schools in Europe, to collaborate and let the audience experience the works of academics with solid theoretical background and independent thinking ability. Featuring a selection of the best student short films from recent years, such as Headprickles, Such Miracles Do Happen and This Will Not Be A Festival Film, the exhibition offers a glimpse into the style and charm of Europe's top film school.
